Baby Girl Found in a Plastic Bag

NEWS

Watch this Video News!

This is an amazing story of a two month old baby girl that was found in a lagoon in Brazil.

The report says that the mother, now arrested by the local authorities, denied the throwing of the child in the water.

An amateur camera-man was at the scene recording the rescue thinking that it was an animal or a cat that was stuck in the black bag. Only after pulling the bag out of the water did the people realise that a human foot was pushing itself out from within.

Immediately, the child was undressed from its wet clothing and then wrapped and prepared to be taken to the hospital.

It seems like the time when the pagan Arabs used to bury their daughters alive. At that time it was considered a matter of shame to have given birth to a female child. Therefore, the parents, many times through false pretence and lying to the child, would take their daughters and bury them alive in the deserts of the Arabian land.

Could it be the poverty that these people fear or is it the sheer spark of the ignorance from the days of darkness that still remains apparent in this world today.

QUR'AN & HADEETH

Allah has mentioned this act of burying the daughters alive many a times in the Holy Qur'an:

"And when the female (infant) buried alive shall be questioned. For what sin was she killed?

[Surah 81:8-9]

"And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief! He hides himself from the people because of that 'evil' of which he has been informed. Shall he keep her with dishonour or bury her in the earth? Certainly, evil is their decision".

[Surah 16:58-59]

"He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He will, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills Or He bestows both male and females, and He renders barren whom He wills. Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things.

[Surah 42:49-50]

"Indeed lost are those who have killed their children from folly, without knowledge". [Surah 6:140] And He says: " And kill not your children from fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Surely, the killing of them is a great sin.

[Surah 17:31]

In opposition to this the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam encouraged one to raise daughters and that whomsoever did this would gain Jannah (paradise) through their upbringing. Similarly, he Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam brought this advice into action through his own daughter, Fatimah Radhi Allahu Anha.

Ibn 'Abbas transmitted that the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said:

"A Muslim who has two daughters whom he treats well when they accompany him or when he accompanies them is admitted to Paradise".

[Saheeh al-Bukhari]

The Woman as Daughter

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Jazakallah khair for that very informative post...so here are my views taking into account those that you have so correctly expressed!

I can't belive that an innocent baby girl could have been thrown into a lagoon by her own mother..It makes you realise how Isam is a religion full of morals...I don't think any muslim woman could do that to her child, because in Islam a child is a blessing form Allah Ta'ala...

In Brazil there is significant poverty with many people living in shanty towns which are also known as 'favelas'. In the rural areas it is hard to find a job and have adequate access to neccesary resources, hence an influx of people into the cities living in the favelas..this is common of developing and semi-developed countries..

The point I'm trying to make is that, poverty is one reason why children but in particular female babies were buried during the time of jahilya. They were buried either because the families could not afford to look after them bearing in mind they would have to be married off in the future and until then would have to be accomodated in the parents home, unlike the sons who could earn a living or go to battle with their fathers. Another reason why they were buried alive was because they feared that a female child would bring disgrace to the honour of their family.

It seems that during the time of Jahilyaa and even now, people do not place their tawakul (trust) in Allah Ta'ala. Indeed when someone has no faith at all we find that that we become like sheep without a shepard to guide the herd.

For the fear of poverty: Allah Ta'ala sends the proviisons that are needed for every person to live, these are written for us even before we are born. Therefore having tawakul in Allah is essential and in doing so incidents like this won't happen.

For the fear of disgrace to the family: Sadly, this has become the norm. Adultry and children as a result of adultry are rife in society. The shariah is complete and therfore is we compare say a country that has some sort of islamic law to one that hasn't we will find a stark contrast in the number of children that are born out of wed-lock.

This blog is so great mashallah...It really makes you realise the numeorus bounties of our deen and how correct it is. Allahu Akbar!

I could go on, bcuz i have alot of views but I think I'll cut it short for now.

Jazakallah khair once a gain for a very thought provoking post.

Duas requested

Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

As Salaamu Alaykum,

Jazakallah for the long comment and specially for the background knowledge and personal views.

It seems as poverty is one of many reasons that pushes parents to the extreme of killing their children.

The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam has encouraged us to trust Allah in the way the birds do; they leave in the morning with an empty stomach and return with a full one.

Similarly, Allah states that He is the one who feeds them and us also.

Therefore, in reality, no Muslim should ever fear poverty if He has full trust in Allah.

Another thing that we should realise and be grateful for is our Country (UK). We have all the facilities available and in reality no person here would really be pushed to that extreme.

Please remember me in your Duas.

Wasalaam
